Labour Party Gains INEC Portal Access Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Labour Party has announced that it has secured direct access to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination portal, clearing the way for the submission of its candidates for the 2027 general elections.

The party disclosed the development in a statement issued over the weekend by its National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Ken Asogwa, describing the milestone as a crucial step in its preparations for the next electoral cycle.

According to the statement, access to the INEC nomination portal is essential for political parties to upload the names of candidates seeking elective offices and obtain formal recognition from the electoral commission.

The Labour Party said the successful access to the portal should allay concerns about its readiness to participate in the 2027 elections and reaffirmed its commitment to complying with all electoral guidelines and deadlines set by INEC.

The party noted that the commencement of the candidate upload process demonstrates its determination to remain fully engaged in the electoral process while presenting qualified candidates for various positions.

Political observers have also described the development as a significant administrative milestone, noting that timely compliance with INEC’s nomination requirements is vital to avoiding disputes over candidate eligibility.

The Labour Party expressed confidence in the ongoing exercise and reiterated its resolve to field credible candidates for the forthcoming governorship and House of Assembly elections as preparations for the 2027 polls gather momentum.
