Aba Power, a key electricity distribution company in Nigeria, has announced a planned week-long power disruption across Abia State. The outage will run from 21st to 28th August 2025, according to a statement issued on Tuesday.
The company explained that the temporary disruption is due to maintenance works by Geometric Power Aba Limited (GPAL), its primary power supplier. GPAL’s gas provider will be carrying out critical infrastructure servicing, which will limit Aba Power’s local generation capacity.
During this period, Aba Power said it will rely mainly on electricity imported from the national grid, though supply may be restricted.
In its official statement, the company assured customers that every effort would be made to minimize inconvenience:
“While grid supply may be limited, we will do our best to ensure that all stakeholders are duly serviced. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may cause and hope this timely message helps customers plan ahead.”
The company urged residents and businesses across Abia State to make necessary preparations for the expected electricity shortfalls during the maintenance period.
