The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is embroiled in a bitter crisis following the collapse of its state structures and the emergence of a new leadership led by former Senate President David Mark. The Controversy:
The ADC’s former chairman, Ralph Nwosu, announced the resignation of all party leadership positions, paving the way for the David Mark-led interim executive to take charge. However, some state chairmen, including Elias Adikwu from Benue State and Etimbuk Umoh from Akwa Ibom State, have expressed their disapproval of the new leadership.

– Elias Adikwu (Benue State): “We are not part of it and we will not take it. They cannot come to a party they did not register to join and take it over from those who built it.”
– Etimbuk Umoh (Akwa Ibom State): “We are waiting for directive from our national leader on the next step to take.”
– Musa Matara (National Publicity Secretary, ADC Continental Youth Council): “We are happy that these people joined us, but there was no broad-based consultation before the emergence of the new leadership.”
The Coalition’s Plans:
The ADC has commenced the establishment of its grassroots mobilization structure in Sokoto State, marking a significant step in its mission to deepen civic engagement and drive inclusive political participation across Nigeria. The party’s interim national publicity secretary, Abdullahi Bolaji, has also absolved the leadership of any blame, advising aggrieved former state chairmen to approach Ralph Nwosu for further clarification.
