The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced its 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for entry-level positions across Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10 and 12.
According to a notice published on the commission’s official recruitment portal, applications opened on Monday, July 20, and will close on Monday, July 27, 2026. The exercise is aimed at strengthening INEC’s workforce in electoral administration, voter registration, data management and election logistics. (Federal Character Commission)
Interested applicants are required to create an account on the recruitment portal, complete the online application form and upload all required credentials. INEC emphasised that the application process is completely free and warned applicants against paying anyone for employment or submitting multiple applications, which could result in disqualification. The vacancies are divided into three categories:
Professional Cadre (Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12)
Available positions include:
- Accountant
- Clinical Officer
- Lawyer
- ICT Officer
- Engineer
- Quantity Surveyor
Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent, relevant professional qualifications where applicable, at least two years of post-qualification experience, an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, and strong ICT, analytical and communication skills. (INEC Recruitment)
Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) – Grade Level 08
Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree, Higher National Diploma (HND) or equivalent qualification in the Social Sciences, Humanities or Sciences, alongside an NYSC certificate, knowledge of records management and proficiency in Microsoft Office and other ICT tools. (INEC Recruitment)
Executive Officer (Registration Officer) – Grade Level 07

General Requirements
INEC stated that applicants must:
- Be Nigerian citizens.
- Not be older than 35 years at the time of application.
- Present a valid certificate of state of origin signed by the chairman or secretary of their local government.
- Be certified physically and mentally fit by a government medical officer.
- Have no criminal conviction.
- Be willing to serve in any part of Nigeria.

- Create an applicant account using their personal details, email address and National Identification Number (NIN).
- Verify their email address.
- Sign in and select their preferred cadre and vacancy.
