President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed a comprehensive review of military operations across Nigeria following a deadly terrorist attack in Darajamal community, Borno State, that claimed several lives, including civilians and soldiers.
The President’s order includes reassessing the deployment of advanced military hardware, drones, and surveillance equipment to strengthen counter-terrorism efforts and ensure lasting security.
National Condolence and Resolve
Vice President Kashim Shettima, in a condolence message to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum and the people of Borno State, described the incident as a “profound loss to both the state and the nation.”
“These deaths have left the entire nation in collective grief, but we are confident that justice will be served for the bereaved families,” Shettima assured.
He reiterated that President Tinubu had already given approval for the acquisition of additional drones and tasked the Armed Forces with reviewing and intensifying operational strategies to eliminate terrorist groups nationwide.
Towards Localized Security Solutions
The Vice President also highlighted ongoing considerations for the establishment of state police, noting that some security challenges demand specialized forces familiar with local terrain and culture to operate effectively at the grassroots level.
Governor Zulum’s Response
On Saturday, Governor Zulum personally visited Darajamal community to console grieving families and honor the memory of victims. His visit reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to working closely with the Federal Government and security agencies to restore peace.
As the nation mourns, President Tinubu’s directive signals a renewed push to defeat terrorism and protect communities across Nigeria.
